    The “Portuguese Women in Tech” 2022 are already known

    The fifth edition of the awards focused on new categories and, for the first time, the winners were chosen by an all-female jury. While The Newsroom was considered the best startup in Portugal founded by a woman, Daniela Braga was elected the best founder of 2022.

    The winners of the fifth edition of the Portuguese Women in Tech Awards are already known, an award that aims to distinguish women who stood out throughout the year in the technological sector, in Portugal. This year, and for the first time, the initiative had an all-female jury.

    The Newsroom, which fights the spread of misinformation and hate speech on the internet, through Artificial Intelligence (AI), was considered “Best Startup in Portugal started by a Woman”. Daniela Braga, founder and CEO of Defined.ai, won the “Founder/Co-Founder” award.

    The “People, Culture & Talent Acquisition” award went to Mafalda Garcês, country leader & senior people director at Dashlane, while the “Community Lead” award went to Mariana Barbosa, head of PR & communication at Coverflex.

    In the “Business Operations & Innovation”, “Revenue, Growth, Marketing & Sales” and “Customer Experience” categories, Sandra Ferreira, director of digital transformation at the European University, Mafalda Sampaio Soares, growth & business lead at Acceleration, and Fernanda Veiga, customer experience from Deloitte, were, respectively, the winners Andreia Pais, lead developer from HiJiffy (winner in the “Engineering” category), Filipa Castro, data scientist from Continental (winner in the Data & Analytics category), Susan Greco, product owner from Turbine Kreuzberg (winner in the “Product Manager” category), and Sara Caldas, senior product designer at Coverflex (winner in the “Designer” category) close the list of winners.

    “Year after year, we are proud to recognize the women who have and continue to excel in technology. Still predominantly associated with men, it is an area where it continues to make sense to attract female faces, as well as recognize their work and highlight its achievements. We have noticed some changes, but there is still a long way to go towards gender equality, so as a community, we will be here in the coming years to value and support those who help to leverage many companies in the sector “, says Liliana Castro, co-founder of Portuguese Women in Tech, quoted in a statement.
