    Telma Monteiro and Catarina Costa become National Judo Champions

    On the last day of the Judo Nationals held in the municipality of Coimbra, the Olympic athletes Catarina Costa, in -48 kg, and Telma Monteiro, in -57 kg, became National Judo Champions.

    The last day was dedicated to the lighter weights, as well as the absolute competition and the Paralympic, with Catarina Costa revalidating the title that already belonged to her.

    In the fight for the -57 kg title Telma Monteiro marked her favorite position, thus reaching the National Title, and Catarina Costa at -48 kg got her 1st place on the podium as well.

    In absolutes, Joana Crisóstomo won in women’s and João Fernando in men’s, with Cernache also crowning three Paralympic national champions, Margarida Mendes (-52 kg), Sérgio Mendes (-60 kg) and Djibrilo Iafa (-73 kg).

    Ulisses Silva (-90 kg) and Pedro Teixeira (-100 kg) were joined, the only ones registered in the respective weight categories.

    In men’s, the national titles went to Francisco Mendes (-60 kg) and Bernardo Tralhão Fernandes (-66 kg), with Sporting, with seven medals, beating the team medalist.
