Until July 17, in the center of Vila Nova de Gaia, the museum center of the Teixeira Lopes House, receives an exhibition of drawings and caricatures by the painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso. The unpublished works on display reflect the artistic identity of the Portuguese modernist, and join the work Caryatide, by Amedeo Modigliani, part of the Casa-Museu collection.
Curated by the specialist in the life and work of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Catarina Alfaro, the exhibition includes original drawings from the XX Dessins catalog, on display in the Aureliano Lima Hall of Diogo de Macedo Galleries. The White Room will be dedicated to the biography and the activity of caricaturist and, in the Black Room, the documentary Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso – Le Dernier secret de l’art moderne, by Christophe Fonseca will be screened.
A catalog book for the exhibition will be launched, with the contribution of the curator and researcher Leonor de Oliveira. This exhibition results from a partnership between the municipality of Gaia and the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, in Amarante, and with the Modern Art Center of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Until the 17th of July, it is possible to visit the exhibition of drawings and caricatures by Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, at the Casa-Museu Teixeira Lopes. The visits commented on the 8th, 15th and 29th of May, at 11 am, are subject to registration through the email gaiacultura@cm-gaia.pt.
