SC BRAGA wins BENFICA (2-0) in the final of the Portuguese Cup in Coimbra.

SC Braga beat Benfica 2-0 in the final and won the 3rd Portuguese Cup in history, imposing on the Eagles the 12th defeat in the finals of the ‘queen competition’ of Portuguese football.

In Coimbra, the eagles were reduced to 10 players since the 17th minute, due to the expulsion of goalkeeper Helton Leite, and the first goal of the match came from Lucas Piazon’s left foot, in a ‘hat’ to Vlachodimos, clocked 45+ 3 minutes. At 85 ’, Ricardo Horta shot the Greek goalkeeper and sealed the final 2-0 for Braga. In the final minutes, after huge confusion along the touchline, Lucas Piazon and Adel Taarabt also saw the red card.

Thus, the season ends in Portugal, with SC Braga making an appointment with Sporting in the Super Cup that will open 2021/22. Benfica, who finished in third place in the championship, closes the season without any title won after investing 100 million euros.
