Jorge Fonseca won, this Sunday, the European Judo Cup in the +100kg category. On the way to victory, the Portuguese passed Ruixuan Li, Lorenzo Turini and in the final he secured the gold with wazari before the ippon against Yongjie Yin.
This is the third medal won by Portugal in the European Cup that is being held in Coimbra. João Fernando (-81kg) won bronze after beating fellow countryman Manuel Rodrigues and Guilherme Silva (-100kg) also took third place after Toma Nikiforov did not appear in the fight that would decide the podium.
Remember that on Saturday, Portugal had already won a gold medal (Francisco Mendes in -60kg), two silver (Bárbara Tima in -63kg and Thelmo Gomes in -73kg) and five bronze (Catarina Costa in -48kg , Joana Diogo at -52kg), Kainan Pires at -66kg, Miguel Gago at -66kg, and João Crisóstomo at -73kg)
