After having won the previous two stages, in Porto and Figueira da Foz, and with this stage unfolding in Praia Grande (Sintra), Vasco Ribeiro has already secured the necessary points to be crowned national champion early, despite strong opposition from Afonso Antunes , which started the season with a triumph in Ericeira.

In the semi-finals, Vasco Ribeiro faced Arran Strong and started strong, thanks to a 9-point wave, the best of the entire event, something that helped him secure a large victory and pass the ball to Afonso Antunes. , who, in the second semi-final, faced the inspired Halley Batista.

After a very balanced duel, the victory fell to Halley, who ‘handed’ the title to the surfer from Estoril.

This is the fifth national title for Vasco Ribeiro, who breaks the tie, thus, the record he held on an equal footing with Ruben González, now leading the table of surfers with more national titles in isolation.

After having conquered the first scepter of his career in 2011, at just 16 years old, he also celebrated the national title in 2012, 2014 and 2017.
