    Richie Campbell, will perform at the City of Coimbra festivities on July 2nd

    Coimbra City Festivals will be held from 1st to 11th July, in strict compliance with the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), as has already happened last year, when the municipality was a pioneer in the resumption of events outdoor cultural events. Richie Campbell will perform at Jardim da Sereia, on July 2nd, the first Friday of these municipal celebrations. The complete program that the Chamber of Coimbra will soon present will be aimed at supporting the progressive recovery of the local economy, as well as of artists and workers in the cultural area that has been greatly affected by the pandemic.

    For the second consecutive year, the Festas da Cidade de Coimbra are once again adapting to the new circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, after having pioneered in 2020 in the resumption of safe and outdoor cultural events. Organized by the City Council of Coimbra, these celebrations will take place on the first two weekends of July.

    On the first Friday, July 2nd, Richie Campbell will perform in the magnificent space of Jardim da Sereia. Richie Campbell is recognized as the first internet musical phenomenon in Portugal to be successful on a national and international scale, leader of the new generation of Portuguese artists.

    The evolution from the reggae and R&B he started with to the dancehall and modern R&B that now guides his career, solidifies him as one of the most versatile artists in Portugal. The albums “Focused” in 2012 and “In The 876” 2015, led Richie Campbell to perform in countries such as France, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg and also in Jamaica and Barbados on tour, together with his band The 911 Band. 2016 is a year of change for Richie Campbell, with “Do You No Wrong”, a notorious return to R&B, produced by the Portuguese Lhast. The single reached platinum awards and a Golden Globe nomination in the Music of the Year category, and has already surpassed 13 million YouTube views. This was followed by “Heaven”, the gold single co-produced by the artist, already with more than eight million views, “Midnight in Lisbon”, “Water”, with Slow J and “Slowly”, both platinum, making “Lisboa” the album most awarded of 2017.

    In addition to betting on cultural recovery, this edition of the Festas da Cidade de Coimbra comes with the aim of socially and economically reviving the municipality, especially in the hotel, restaurant and trade sectors.

    The initiatives go far beyond concerts, with the full program being presented shortly by the municipality. Coimbra City Festivals take into account the strict compliance with all DGS regulations.
