    Festival brings theater, circus, exhibitions and dance to the streets and gardens of Palmela

    Theater, dance, contemporary circus and music shows, workshops and free exhibitions will bring life to the squares, gardens and spaces of Palmela. The microFIAR cultural festival is back.

    For three days, the streets, gardens and spaces of Palmela will be filled with theater, performances, dance, contemporary circus, exhibitions, music, workshops, installations and artistic interventions. microFIAR’21 – Fiar o VAZIO is the festival that returns to the 23rd, 24th and 25th of July, every two years, with this initiative taking place between each edition of FIAR, the parent festival.

    The program starts on the 23rd with the photography exhibition “Corpo Lúteo”, by Ana Telhado, at the Adega da Casa de Atalaia, at 6 pm; followed by the open-air theater with “Peça para Intervalos”, at 8:30 pm at the Encosta do Castelo Viewpoint. On the 24th of July, between 11am and 2pm, “A Grande Viagem do Pequeno Mi” takes place, a workshop on dance, music, reading and illustration at Parque Venâncio Ribeiro da Costa. Among other highlights of the day are, for example, the sessions of Cante Alentejano by the choir group Ausentes do Alentejo at Jardim de S. João, and the contemporary dance show “Dançar na Rua”, at Largo Marquês de Pombal, at 5:30 pm. On Sunday, the 25th, there is a puppet theater at 11am at the Venâncio Ribeiro da Costa Park, but also a contemporary circus with the show “Baixos e Altos” at 6pm at the Largo S.     In a note sent, FIAR explains that it relies on “valuing its territory and the community in which it lives, as a stage and vehicle for the exaltation of tradition, always looking to the forefront. Search the streets, in places for conventional and unconventional shows, that an entire village is simultaneously welcoming and welcoming”. Admissions to limited-capacity shows are free, and donations are encouraged, by prior reservation, from 15 June. The use of a mask is mandatory, as well as the maintenance of social distancing rules.
