The historic village of Monsanto, in the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova, has just won the Five Star Regions 2021 Award.
For the fourth consecutive year, Monsanto is distinguished with this award, in the Villages and Villages category, through a national vote in which the Portuguese identified, for each region, what they consider Five Stars at various levels.
The vote involved a total of 346,000 people.
The Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova expresses its satisfaction for this prize awarded to Monsanto and congratulates all Monsanto, idanhenses, entrepreneurs, investors, cultural and tourist agents, visitors and tourists who make Monsanto a reference destination throughout the world.
Usual presence in the European and world tops of towns and villages, Monsanto has obtained several national and international recognitions.
Among the distinctions of recent years, Monsanto was elected by the Japan Travel Agency Association, in a vote involving more than 300 tourism agents and professionals, as one of the 30 most beautiful historic towns and villages in Europe, being the only Portuguese representative.
The Five Stars Regions Award is an evaluation system that identifies, according to the Portuguese population, the best that exists in each of the 20 regions (18 districts + 2 autonomous regions) in terms of natural resources, gastronomy, art and culture, heritage and other regional icons of national reference; as well as rewards Portuguese companies that differ at the regional level.
